Last Father’s day I blogged about how great of a dad my husband is from my children’s perspective. Today, in honor of his birthday on Saturday, this post is to celebrate how great of a husband he is from my perspective.
He is no doubt the head of this household. He provides, guides and leads. He is my prayer partner, my business partner and my life partner. He’s my rock to lean on, the shoulder I cry on, and the love of my life. He is more than a best friend, he’s my soul mate. Even with all his strong and masculine qualities, he is also domestic and sweet. He will help me with anything that I need done around the house. For example, he does the dishes like no body’s business. He does it quite often and unsolicited. I don’t think he necessarily loves doing it, but he does it because he loves me and knows it’s a big help for me.
I appreciate his help so much that even when his help isn’t helpful, I don’t really mind. Like the time he helped me with the laundry. He started with the “whites”. After the clothes were actually dried, he realized that he forgot to remove the black ink pen from his shirt pocket. Yep. We had dalmatian whites. Or the time he surprised me by mopping the kitchen and hallway floors. When I saw it, I thought a pipe was leaking. There was so much water on the floor, it took about several hours for it to dry.
I can’t deny my husband’s charm. Four years ago, he gave me a beautiful, sweet and sentimental Valentine’s day card. Last year he gave me a beautiful, sweet and sentimental Valentine’s day card. Sounds familiar? That because it was. At the end of the card he wrote “It was so nice, I had to give it twice”. In case you missed it; he re-gifted me the same card. True story. I laughed so hard, it actually made my day.
I am blessed with the perfect husband for me. He is smart and driven. He’s quirky and funny. I love that he makes me laugh…even if sometimes I’m laughing because his humor is so dry. I thank God for blessing me with a wonderful man and father of my children. I pray for him everyday. Today, I celebrate my husband. Although his actual birthday is on Saturday, it’s never too early to celebrate.
